Best Fish and Chips in Bakersfield

The best fish and chips in Bakersfield is in the place that you’d least expect it to be.  It’s in a bowling alley.  You would never expect that a bowling alley would be known for its fish and chips but this place is.  They’re called AMF Westchester bowling alley coffee shop.

I don’t know what made him think about it but Chip decided that for lunch we should go there for fish and chips.  I was like a bowling alley?  Are you sure?  I mean, it’s a bowling alley… LOL.  So we went anyway and it was indeed the best fish I’d ever had in my entire life.  I’m not a fish person either, I hate fish but there’s something about cod that I like because it doesn’t taste fishy like salmon does.

I mean we won’t make a habit of this because it wasn’t cheap.  For two people it was about $18 and change for the fish and about $4 and change for two drinks with a total of $25 and change plus tip.  I mean it was worth every penny but for that amount of money I can stuff my face at Hometown buffet.  Not that I should, in fact I should probably go to this bowling alley instead of Hometown buffet because I still came home stuffed.

During our meal we were able to watch all the people bowling and I was surprised because I thought bowling was dead but apparently it’s alive and kicking.  It was mostly all families there today with their children all bowling poorly.  This one guy just threw the ball for his kid and he got a strike.  He wasn’t even trying for a strike or probably anything but he ended up getting one.  It looked like a lot of fun and I wish that my family did things like that when I was a kid.  So I’m glad that people are still having fun bowling even though it’s boring LOL.

When we were finished eating we went to pay and I told the lady at the register “that was the best fish I’ve ever eaten in my entire life” and she laughed and said “I can’t hear that enough”.  So I’m assuming that just about everyone who eats there says that to her, probably because it’s true that it is the best.
