avatar Avatar

I couldn’t believe it but the movie Avatar is still in theaters in 3D.  I wanted to see it when it first came out but kept missing my chances to go to work with Chip on the days he worked 4 hours on the weekends.  His job was near a movie theater in a mall.  So we went and saw it today and boy oh boy was I impressed.

When you go see a movie that is 2 and half hours long, make sure you do NOT get a drink and be sure you have drained your bladder completely before it starts otherwise you will be in so much pain throughout the movie lol.  There ain’t no way I’m getting up to go pee.  I’d rather suffer through the pain than miss a few minutes.  I did that with all the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies.  Suffered!  See what I go through for a movie?

I was very impressed with not only the graphics but the story line and just everything.  They have a guy in a wheel chair who gets to be an avatar because his twin brother who was supposed to be the avatar died and he gets his legs back which was enough of a reason for me to like this movie.  You know how when you play a video game if you are in a wheel chair or otherwise incapacitated your character has the full use of their legs so you assume the role of your character being that now you can walk.  It’s not the same thing because in this movie you are literally controlling your avatar not just sitting in a chair eating Cheetos’ and drinking Red Bull.  You have full total control and you are there in the world instead of seeing it on a screen.

Normally alien invasion movies shows aliens invading us and us being the good guys trying to gain control of our planet back and the aliens are usually the bad guys.  Well what I loved about this movie was that the roles were completely reversed.  We humans are the alien invaders who are trying to take over another planet and kill the inhabitants.  Sure at first the humans wanted to learn how the people were and be them by assuming these bodies to become them so they had to learn their alien language and the customs and such.  But that was the scientists who wanted to do that to convince the inhabitants to let us take what was under the tree, some kind of mineral that sells for millions an ounce.  Beside it’s all about money and wealth with us humans isn’t it?

The infiltrated avatars were not as successful as they thought they were in trying to convince them to leave but in the end it all worked out.  The aliens finally got their planet back and allowed some people to stay.

You know when I think about alien movies like this and about alien invasion and who is on whose side… like take V for example.  In “V” there is the 5th column which are the Visitors who don’t agree with what their people are doing.  Sure they want to eat rats and birds and all but they don’t agree with taking over a planet and kidnapping people for food.  So they are the resistance.  Well, in a way it’s kind of the same thing.

Put yourself in this situation.  You just landed on an alien planet knowing that eventually your people (human race) is going to kill the aliens and take over the land.  You know that it’s wrong because “Do Unto Others” and all.  So what would you do?  Would you do what you would want to be done to you and help the aliens and go against your own people or would you be for your own people and slay all the aliens even though they are highly intelligent, possibly even more evolved than we are?

I think that if I knew what was going to happen to the people and if I were wearing an avatar suit, interacting with their people and getting to know them I’d probably be on their side too.  It’s all a moral dilemma and as with every decision in life you have to make the right decision that’s best for your life.

The guy in the wheel chair finally got his legs when they fused his soul into the avatars body and when I saw that I was in tears lol.  It’s a movie Mike lol.  I get so emotional during movies, especially when I have to PEEEE!!!!  LOL

Well, the DVD/Blu-ray and downloadable versions will all be sold in 1 month so keep watch for that.  I want to buy the PSP version from the Sony Store so that no matter where I am I will always have a movie to watch on my PSP.  That is if I remembered to bring it with me lol.
