Cynthia was a great friend and we will truly miss her.  For 92 years she lead the kind of life that most of us would dream about living.  She and her husband Robert Patten lived in a house in Malibu right on the ocean.  Bob starred in the movie Twelve O'clock High as well as many others and passed away in 2001.  Cynthia wrote many books, one of which was "Dear Boris", a biography about Boris Karloff.  We were invited to a book signing in Malibu with her and Sara Jane Karloff.  They both signed her book for us.  Check out the other books that she has written.  She was very talented.

At some point Cynthia was given a pot bellied pig and she couldn't keep it in her Malibu home so she gave it to her daughter Meg who took care of him and named him Dudley.  They lived in Hollywood.  Meg passed away in June 2000.

Chip and I had been invited to Malibu on many occasion where we helped clean the house and polish their silver for parties.  We remodeled their bedroom and bathrooms.  I have to say that every time we went there to work we had fun.  Going to the beach wasn't a chore for us because we got to stay in the  guest room (Cynthia's office) down stairs which was only feet from the beach.  We would wake up every morning and walk out our private entrance to see nothing but ocean.  We even got to bring our cat Sha-nay-nay with us and Cynthia loved to hold her in her arms and pet her.  People say that animals are the best therapy.

Cynthia will be remembered for her sharp wit, wonderful sense of humor and her hospitality.  She made everyone feel welcomed and was known to plan cocktail parties for 100 people with less than a weeks notice.  Cynthia's page of Hollywood history will be remembered by all that knew and loved her.

This is a video I made in tribute to Cynthia that YouTube is hosting.
Tribute to Cynthia  (updated for Sara)

I was going to add the burial at sea video here that was password protected but I decided against that because it has too many problems with it.  If you are a family or friend of Cynthia's I will be making a DVD for you so if you want one please contact Robbie.
