--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Wizard's second Epic Quest begins at Talwyn Flamecaller in the Lava Storm Mountains. He is a High Elf Wizard located at -2170, -1050. He is high up in a little cubby on top of a wall.

NOTE: Talwyn's Location was changed with the Dragons of Norrath Patch. This is his new Location, in the new Lavastorm.
.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Four Tests

You say, 'Hail, Talwyn Flamecaller'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'The fire of destruction burns within you, does it not? I can see that your affinity for destructive magic has served you well in your travels. It has served you so well that it has caught the eye of Solusek Ro. He has created and sent me here to discuss the matter of joining his legions. If you do, you will be granted power unheard of on mortal lands. What say you?'

You say, 'I agree'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'I knew you would. . . What wizard could refuse an offer of such power? Since you have proven yourself only through combat and not yet through adventuring, I require you to prove yourself worthy once more. A small set of tests, really.'

You say, 'what tests'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'The tests I require of you are merely to measure your ability as a wizard and follower of Solusek. They will draw upon the focal points of being a wizard. Through intelligence and its application to magic, you can call upon the elements more often without strain. Through subtlety, you are able to be destructive without calling the attention unto yourself. Through research, new, more powerful spells and incantations are discovered. Through channeling, the ability to concentrate on spells is enhanced, even in the most distracting of environments. Once you have completed these tests, return to me with the results, so that I may review them.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Test of Intelligence

You say, 'I am ready for the test of intelligence'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Through the intelligent use of magic, we are able to become more efficient at what we do. To prove to me that you have this gift, I will need you to work your way through a set of riddles. These riddles will take you full circle, beginning with me and ending with me. The path between those two points must be discovered by your own mettle. Take this note and do as it instructs. Take care when handling these notes, they are the lifeblood that will guide you on your journey and should you lose them, you will fail the test. I hope to see you back here with the correct answer soon.'

Go out and collect the 10 items. It is important to remember here that although there are loc's for each item, they can spawn in more than one location, normally nearby. 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Test of Channeling

You say, 'I am ready for the test of channeling'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'In the fortress of the Sarnak, amidst some old bones, you will find a small, cursed trinket that I require you to obtain. I say that it is cursed because any that try to take it are surrounded in a swarm of scorpions. The scorpions are small and not dangerous by themselves, but when a hundred of them engulf your body, you can't stand but to run away. With your proficiency in channeling, you must go and retrieve this trinket for me.

Go to Lake of Ill Omen to the Chancellor's Room (Chancellor is the mob who drops the Jade Chokidai Prod for the Howling Stones key). On the table there is a skeleton mob that has no name but is able to be targeted. Killing it will spawn several green-con to 65 scorpions. Load up your Jyll's line of spells and kill them all. One of the scorpions will drop A Cursed Talisman. Bring this item back to Talwyn.

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Your speed and concentration impress even me. The Test of Channeling is no easy feat to accomplish, especially with so many dangerous distractions nearby.'

Talwyn hands you back the Talisman.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Test of Research

You say, 'I am ready for the test of research'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Our ranks simply cannot be filled with slouches! We need to know that you will take the time and effort to be an effective wizard, not only for your own preservation, but also to be a contributor to our cause. You will be required to create a new spell. The research will be difficult, the runes many, but through cascade, coruscation, flash, desiccation, glint, impulse, synergy, tempest, vortex, and conflagration, you will find the path that burns deep within you. When you have crafted the spell, return it to me so that I may inspect it.'

Collect the 7 common runes via vendors, regular drops or the bazaar

Rune of Cascade
Rune of Flash
Rune of Glint
Rune of Impulse
Rune of Synergy
Rune of Tempest
Rune of Vortex
Rune of Coruscation is a no drop rune. Reported as dropping off.

Rune of Conflagration is believed to be the Rune of Greater Conflagration. Known drops:

Shar Vinitras in Akheva Ruins 4
High Risk Everfrost LDoN
High Risk Takish LDoN

Combine the 10 runes in your lexicon and you will receive a scroll called “Spell:Electrical Charge” It has ten charges of Electrical Charge.

Hand this to Talwyn.

Talwyn Flamecaller says, 'The test of research wears thin upon you, but with this parchment I hold in my hand, you have proven your worth as a contributor to the cause.'

Receive the scroll back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Test of Subtlety

Before you may begin the Test of Subtlety, you must have completed the Test of Research.

You say, 'I am ready for the test of subtlety'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'In Steamfont you will find a friend of mine, Yama Twerik, with a bit of a dilemma on his hands. He was able to bring a non-functional clockwork back to Ak`Anon from the Plane of Innovation. He is by no means a wizard, so he needs help recharging the battery of the clockwork to get it working again. Go see, he will discuss with you the details of his predicament.'

Go to Yama Twerik in Steamfont. He is a gnome located on the very outside of the Minotaur Caves. Location 1260, -1760.

You say, "Hail, Yama Twerik"

Yama Twerik says 'Just in time! Talwyn said he might be sending me someone to help me with this particular predicament. You see I need help with this guy here, his battery has gone dry and we cannot find a way to recharge it. We think the clockworks of innovation are powered through some kind of magical energy, different from what is stored in normal batteries. I would like you to use your best electrical magic to try and resurrect his battery

You say, '"Resurrect his battery"

Yama Twerik says, "Ok good, but here is the thing, we have to be really careful. I don't want to overcharge the battery, and you will have to cast on it while I am holding the correct wires together. If you don't do it at the right time you will either fry me, or it will be a waste and we will have to start completely over. Let me know when you have cleared your mind and regained your magical strength, and are ready to start.

You say, "I am ready"

Yama Twerik says 'Excellent, then I shall begin performing my work.'

Yama Twerik says 'Stay sharp, young wizard, I will give you cue to begin to infuse this creation with your magics. Take care to put just the right amount of effort into the spell, otherwise we may overcharge the battery, or you might cause me harm. If you miss your cue, it will be a waste and we would have to start over.'

He runs over to the forge-type structure. This is where the clockwork has been found, but is known to move around as well.

Yama Twerik says 'I'm almost ready for you to make the first charge. . . Just another second. . . Ok, wizard, give it your best shot.'

Click your Spell: Electrical Shock.
Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them.

Yama Twerik says “Wonderful, I knew this would work. C’mon, lets see what we can do here”

Yama turns some bolts and twists some wires before saying, “Alright, give it another shot”

Click scroll.
Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them.

Yama Twerik says “Great, this appears to be working, I can barely contain my excitement."

Yama grabs a new wire and attaches it to a small bundle of wires inside the clockwork. After several seconds of making some modifications he says “This looks to be working, a couple more blasts like that and we’ll be up and running in no time! Go ahead and give me a good, solid charge."

Click scroll.
Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them.

Yama Twerik says “Great, this appears to be working, I can barely contain my excitement."

Yama Twerik says, “This should be the last one, wizard. Put everything you’ve got into this one and lets see what happens!”

Click scroll.
Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them.

Yama Twerik says “Great, this appears to be working, I can barely contain my excitement.

Yama says “I appreciate your help there, young wizard. Send Talwyn my thanks for sending such a capable young recruit to help me out here.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You say, "Hail, Talwyn Flamecaller"

Talwyn Flamecaller says “You have completed the four tests of your abilities, but your journey to joining Solusek’s legion is far from complete. You must now assemble a wand."

Epic 1.5 Pre-quest Complete.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Assembling the Wand

This is where you will begin the quest if you have already completed the Staff of the Four. You may have to hail Talwyn twice to get the appropriate dialogue.

You say, 'Hail, Talwyn Flamecaller'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'You have completed the four tests of your abilities, but your journey to joining Solusek's legion is far from complete. You must now assemble a wand to help further focus your energies. In the lands of Discord, power surges and fades in an awesome display, the fluxing power flows through all things on the landscape. Go, investigate the lands of Discord; return to me with a fluxing rod, gem, rune, and ore. With them you will be ready to take your first steps as a new soldier.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fluxing Rod

You say, "What fluxing rod?"

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'The rod that will be used to create the foundation for the staff can only be found in the place where magic tears and screams across the landscape. Only in the plane where discord reigns does the power exist to charge the rod properly. A race that has been recently discovered there has been seen carrying around rods of super charged discordant magic. We are unsure of their origin, but we believe the rods hold a great, yet unknown power worthy of use in this staff.' 2

A Fluxing Staff is dropped off the GIANT Girplan Guardian in Walls of Slaughter. This is a raid event. His respawn time is less than a day it seems.

He has cast two different spells:
Curse of Misfortune
1: Decrease Spell Resist Rate by 100%
2: Limit: Resist (Magic allowed)
3: Decrease Magic Resist by 200
4: Decrease Damage Modifier by 50%
5: Decrease Minimum Damage Modifier by 50%
6: Decrease Damage Modifier by 50%
7: Decrease Minimum Damage Modifier by 50%
8: Increase Curse Counter by 30
Resist Type: Magic
Resist Adjust: -1000
PBAoE: 300

Cessation of Health
1: Increase Poison Counter by 45
2: Decrease Hit points by 750 per tick
Resist Type: Poison
Resist Adjust: -325
PBAoE: 400

He AE rampages and hits for 2300. No chest spawns after killing him, only loot is A Fluxing Staff.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fluxing Gem

You say, "What fluxing gem?"

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Fluxing gems have been found growing in the desert of Luclin. They form from the sand that has been blasted by magic. Sun Revenants have been known to collect them. Go to the plateau, and speak the word proclaim your desire to take their gems, this will draw out the elite revenants, one of them should be carrying the fluxing gem.'

A Fluxing Gem is dropped off the Elite Sun Revenant in The Scarlet Desert. To spawn him, go to the cauldron the plateau that is surrounded by aliens. Go inside it (use levitate).**

You say, "I have come for your gems"

A voice booms from the center of the cauldron. 'These gems are sacred, important to our survival, you shall not have them'

[Doing this step as a non-Wizard will result in: 'Unfortunately my friend, you are not a student of the sorcerous arts, and cannot be trusted with information so vital to our cause']

This will spawn the Elite Sun Revenant, a level 75 Wizard Sun Revenant. He spawns just south of the plateau and makes his way up to the cauldron where he stay. He does circle around the cauldron a bit. He IS Kill on Sight, sees invisibility and is immune to changes in run speed. He casts wizards spells, which include (but are not limited to):

Elnerick's Entombment of Ice
Shock of Magic
Draught of Fire (Seems to be his favorite)
Annul Magic
Talaka

He PBAoE's two different spells that last about 3-ticks (18 seconds):
Greater Sand Cure of Knowledge
1: Decrease Spell Haste by 50%
2: Decrease Mana by 1000 per tick
3: Limit: Combat Skills Not Allowed
Resist Type: Unresistable
Range: 150
Notes: Can be removed with Annul Magic

Greater Sand Cure of Life
1: Decrease Hit points by 1000 per tick
2: Decrease ATK by 500
Resist Type: Prismatic
Resist Adjust: -325
Range: 150
Notes: Can be removed with Annul Magic

He has a nasty melee proc:

Torment of Body
1: Decrease HP when cast by 3000
2: Decrease Hit points by 300 per tick
3: Accuracy Amount(-25)
4: Decrease Effective Casting Level by 100
5: Increase Curse Counter by 24
Resist Type: Prismatic
Resist Adjust: -375
Notes: Curable (24 counters)

Despite being a wizard, he is somewhat heavy in melee. He hit a lot in the mid 1000's and flurries. However he was slowable. It is reported that he enraged at 90%. A typical strategy that has worked for him with Fennin Ro style ranged fight. However it has been done with bard resists and full out melee. Just keep your casters out range. Was killed by 36 Tacvi-geared people without casualty and has been reported to have been done with less.

The corpse will yield one A Fluxing Gem. No other loots dropped. His respawn timer is about a day.3

**It is debatable if you actually need to be sitting in the cauldron. Some have reported you can do it from right outside, while others have not be able to. Some have also reported have to sit, while others have reported having to kill several of the nearby Sun Revenants first.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fluxing Rune

You say, "What fluxing rune?"

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Fluxing runes are carried by the army of Terris Thule. These runes help her minions slip into their victim's dreams more easily. I believe you would be able to find one being carried by the lord of the hobgoblins.'

A Fluxing Rune is dropped off the Hob Goblin Horrorfiend in Plane of Nightmare.

He is located at the back of the Hobgoblin caves. He is a level 75 Shadow knight with very weak melee. It has been reported that groups of 4 and 5 Time+ have taken him out. Two or three groups pre-Time/Elemental groups should be able to take him out easily. He hits kind of fast, but the melee was weak: most of it was in the 200-400 range, some hits were in the mid 1000s. He casts a PBAoE spell
Flames of the Fiend
1: Decrease Hit points by 2500
Resist Type: Chromatic
Resist Adjust: -150
Range: 400

Upon looting his corpse you will receive A Fluxing Rune. A chest spawns nearby with an additional reward for your party members.

Spawn time on the Horrorfiend is about an hour.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fluxing Ore

You say, "What fluxing ore?"

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'It shouldn't be too hard to find some fluxing ore in an area we have termed the Ruined City of Dranik. Look in areas where one might expect to find ore-veins. Look on the mountain sides, beneath cliffs, even among the loose pieces of rock in the area.'

A Fluxing Chunk of Ore is a ground spawn in the Ruined City of Dranik in the rat caves near the loc 1360, -337 . You can get here with invisibility, and there are several of them lying on the ground. The rats are non-aggro.

Head over to Dranik's Scar and then head to Bloodfields.

Once in Bloodfields, head towards the northern part of the zone and follow the wall to the west, as if you are headed towards the Ruined City of Dranik. Just before you get to the Ruined City, there is a cave on the northern wall.

Go inside this cave and all of the way to the back. There is a pile of rocks there. RIGHT CLICK on the pile of rocks.

This zones you into the Ruined City of Dranik and into the very cave that you need to be in to get your ore. The rats are non-aggro, find a bag on the ground (there are usually several) and pick one up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Return to Talwyn and hand him the four fluxing items: Rune, Ore, Gem, Staff.

Talwyn Flamecaller says "You are indeed ready to join the ranks as a soldier of Solusek Ro. Every soldier in Solusek's league must wield a staff of power, which will focus your abilities in a way that you have never felt before! Fear will consume you as you feel your essence being ripped from your body. Do not give up, use the staff with faith and hope that you will be rewarded with the most powerful item you could ever imagine."

You receive: Staff of Fluxing Power

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lay Hands on the Staff

The Fires of Solusek

You say, 'what powerful item'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'To lay hands on this staff you will have to construct it of items of this world. Power is not given out freely, you must earn it. You will be pressed to the limits of your knowledge and abilities. To begin you will need to gather the fires of Solusek himself. These fires burn in the deepest part of the dungeons named after him. The pure flame burns near the runes. Bring it to me to examine when you get it."

Head to The Cavern of Exiles (Solusek Dungeon C). Here you must kill the Pure Flame Elemental. He is the end of a ring event.

Zone in from Sol B side, fight south until you get to the room just north of the room where the bridges form a lambda symbol (upside down Y).

The room in question is a circular room with lava in the center. There will be 8 lava elementals in the area. 4 Lava Vindicators and 4 Lava Champions. Clear these.

The room grows warmer as the lava pool begins to steam heavily.

One minute later the next wave will spawn. This time, four Furious Magma Guardians will spawn, one on each of the 4 platforms. Clear these.

The lava starts to bubble and churn. Dark shapes move beneath the molten rock.

One minute later the next wave spawn. This time, two Inflamed Champions will spawn: one on the east ledge, one on the west. Clear these.

The pool of lava begins to boil furiously. Something large is growing within.

One minute later the final wave spawns. This time, the Pure Flame Elemental pops. He will spawn on the middle rock.

Pure Flame Elemental says, 'Why have you awakened me mortals?'

Kill him. He doesn't hit hard, but mitigates slow. Was a very short fight and didn't need any heals, except for the enchanter.

You receive: Wisp of Pure Flame. Head back to Talwyn and hand it to him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ice From the Wastes

Talwyn Flamecaller says "You have obtained the pure flame? That was impressive how quickly you did it, the other wizards I am recruiting have not returned yet. Back to the recruitment, you will need pure ice. The ice is coldest in the wastes of Velious. Retrieve this pure ice and bring it back to me."

Head to Sirens Grotto. It is here that you will obtain a Shard of Pure Ice. This drops of Mistress of the Darkwater. From the succor point, run out and around until you get to an area with water. To your left will be a building with a well in it. Swim down to the bottom of the well. You will now be in a larger pool of water. Swim away from the well and then up to get out of the water. This area has many Sirens in it, including the enchanter epic mob (doesn't see invisibility). At the very top of the ramp is the Mistress.

She is surrounded by many sirens that chain agro each other unless they are pacified. She is not slowable and hits for around 500, but semi-fast. She has an AE spell:

Drowning Panic
1: Decrease Attack Speed by 15%
2: Increase Disease Counter by 10
3: Decrease Hit points by 100 per tick
Resist Type: Disease
Resist Adjust: -100
PBAoE: 150

You receive Shard of Pure Ice. Head back to Talwyn and hand it to him.

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'I can see the pure ice is in your possession. Take care while handling it because it is fragile. To infuse the staff with the powers you have attained you will need to retrieve a tapestry bag from the weavers in the Plane of Tranquility. Go talk to Kalym; he should be able to help you.'

The Satchel

Go to the Plane of Tranquility. Here you are looking for Kalym Rasalan. He is an Erudite sitting at location -304, -1162. In the house next to PoN. Back room when you come in the entrance facing the Stones.

You say, "Hail Kalym Rasalan" 5

Kalym Rasalan says 'Hello wizard, Talwyn told me of the coming of new recruits. I suppose he told you that you would need to use the magic in our woven tapestries to create a satchel to hold something very delicate? Well, you are lucky enough that I have this finished swatch of tapestry here that you can use. I am busy and can't tailor it for you though. You will need to tailor it yourself. If you take the tapestry, a backpack pattern, and a silk cord you should be able to tailor it with moderate effort.'

He will give you a Silken Tapestry. Combine this in a sewing kit with Silk Cord and a Backpack Pattern. The satchel is trivial at 130 raw skill in tailoring. You may not do the combine without 130 skill. However, it will be no fail.

Silk Cord
Tailoring Components: silk thread x 3
In: deluxe sewing kit, large sewing kit, loom, planar sewing kit, collapsible sewing kit
Yield: 1
Trivial at: 26

Silk Thread
Tailoring Components: spiderling silk x 2
In: small sewing kit, deluxe sewing kit, large sewing kit, loom, planar sewing kit, collapsible sewing kit
Yield: 1
Trivial at: 15

Backpack Pattern can be purchased all over Norrath. In particular you may purchase it in the Plane of Knowledge

Higwyn Matrick @ 120, 1480, Western trader building
Tratlan Matrick @ 120, 1465, Western trader building
For a complete listing on where to obtain the pattern, click here.

You create: Silken Tapestry Satchel. This is an 8-slot container with a combine button. Return this (empty) to Talwyn.

Talwyn Flamecaller says, "So you got the tapestry satchel, did you? Good, you can begin to retrieve the final portions of the staff. I cannot tell you where exactly, but you will have to find four differently colored fragments. These fragments will circle your staff and feed it power. Think of them as the staff's own familiars. These crystal fragments only grow on the ground that has not seen footsteps for some time. The vibration in the ground is enough to destroy these delicate shards. When combined though, they will form a material harder than diamond. Once you have the four pieces, place them in your tapestry satchel along with the fluxing staff, a cohesion gem, and the two elements that you gathered previously, and then return with it to me."

Satchels and Crystals and Gems, oh my!

Fill your Silken Tapestry Satchel with four Prismatic Crystals. They can be found

Prismatic Crystal: Twilight Sea 1
ground spawn at 4269, 1223
ground spawn at 4256, 1419
Prismatic Crystal: Veksar 1
ground spawn at 300, 350
ground spawn at 105, 390
ground spawn at 200, 525
ground spawn at -19, 535 (duck while in the water)
ground spawn at -160, 390 (duck while in the water)
Prismatic Crystal: Timorous Deep 1, ground spawn at 5613, -4228
Prismatic Crystal: Dulak, dropped from Treasure Sorter Neiben 6
Shady Treasure Sorter
Spawned for me at -75, -877, other locations marked in green

Next head to Plane of Innovation, you will need to obtain a Cohesion Gem. These drop off random mobs throughout the zone.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Combine the four Prismatic Crystals, Cohesion Gem, Staff of Fluxing Power, Shard of Pure Ice, and the Wisp of Pure Flame in the Silken Tapestry Satchel.

You create: Full Tapestry Satchel

Return this to Talwyn.

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'As Talwyn removes the components from the tapestry satchel they begin to vibrate with power. They pulse quickly as they move towards each other, static flies in each direction as the pieces fuse into each other. In a final burst of magic the staff is complete. Talwyn looks it over with wise eyes before giving it to you. 'The staff of power is yours to wield. If you are up to the task I can set you on the final portions of what is needed to become a true avatar of Solusek.''

You receive: Staff of Prismatic Power.

Unleash the Full Potential

You say, 'Hail, Talwyn Flamecaller'

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'The power of the wizard courses through your veins thoroughly, ever in search of the opportunity to harness even more power. You have created a staff of immense power, yet even in its glory, is limited. To unleash the full potential of this weapon will be a large undertaking of its own. You must obtain a globe of pure discordant energy and return it to me. Look for assistance from the Plane of Discord from Grathnok Gilforgan. I know not where this being may be, but I do know that once you find him, he will be willing to assist you in finding the globe you seek.

Grathnok Gilforgan is in Dranik Scar along the left zone wall in a building. His location is -460, 164.

Pure Discordant Energy

You say, 'I need a globe of pure discordant energy.'

Grathnok Gilforgan says 'I know about the globes of which you speak and perhaps may even be able to aid you in obtaining one. First, though, I have to ask a favor of you. My people have suffered tireless ages here in Discord, protecting the portal. If we lose our hold on the portal the armies of discord would be able to overrun our home world, much like what has started to happen on your home world of Norrath.'

You say, 'what about you lose your hold?'

Grathnok Gilforgan says 'It is still too early to tell. . . We are well established here, but the constant attacks and dreary landscape really take their toll on young minds. Adding to that, when an attack is successful it bears heavy in the minds of my people. In a recent attack, a surprise raid upon our encampments, the precious Intricate Horn of Galien was taken. The purpose for this atrocity is as of yet unknown, however this item holds great meaning to us and the favor I ask is simply to return this sacred artifact to me.'

You say, 'What intricate horn of galien?'

Grathnok Gilforgan says, 'This precious Artifact was placed on our largest tower, where its resonating voice stretched across the planes and through the mountains to rally our troops and warn us of an impending attack. The horn has tremendous sentimental value for us, as it belonged to one of the great leaders of our past. It is a horn made of the finest precious metal of our homeland, laden with runes and etchings and filled with gems and precious stones. It is a signification of our strength and perseverance of the ages and without it the morale is very low amongst our soldiers.

Head to Muramite Proving Grounds. Here you need to obtain Intricate Horn of Galien which drops off of Lightning Caller Vhalek.

He has two spells that he casts and is by no means a single group encounter.

Cursed Touch of the Lightning Caller
1: Increase Spell/Bash Hate by 99%
2: Decrease Damage Modifier by 15%
3: Decrease Minimum Damage Modifier by 15%
4: Decrease HP when cast by 2800
5: Increase Curse Counter by 24
Resist Type: Fire
Resist Adjust: -350
Single Target: 100

Defiance of the Lightningcaller
1: Decrease Mana by 550 per tick
2: Decrease AC by 225
3: Decrease ATK by 750
4: Decrease Effective Casting Level by 25
5: Increase Curse Counter by 24
Resist Type: Fire
Resist Adjust: -350
PBAoE: 300

Hand the horn back into Grathnok.

Grathnok Gilforgan says 'Your resolve and strength of will astounds me. You have returned to my people, the most sacred artifact we have on this world, and for that, you have earned my gratitude. As promised, I will give you the information that I have on the discordant globes. These globes can only be collected in one area, where the magic of discord constantly fluxes and an eerie sense of pain and anguish resides. Beware, it is an extremely dangerous area, protected by many of the Muramite Army's best and highest ranking members. Good luck to you, I hope you achieve all that you aspire.'

The next part requires further questing within the Citadel of Anguish. Key quest to follow.

Flagged Immune to Zone Wide AoE

Taromani is a named pyrilen in Riftseekers' Sanctum

You say, 'Hail, Taromani'

Taromani says 'Greetings, Half Elf. You have certainly traveled far from home. To what does Taromani owe the pleasure of this visit? Have you come to tell me a [story]?'

You say, 'I have come to tell you a story.'

Taromani says 'Splendid! I relish an opportunity to swap tales with mortals. Allow me to go first. In a shattered realm, there existed a twisted overlord that ruled all. He laid waste to entire worlds, destroying or consuming whatever he touched. Those that resisted his influence were quickly annihilated or enslaved. His lands were governed with an iron fist and later abandoned when they no longer served his purpose. This overlord was universally feared and despised. Yet, while his presence was eternally felt, the despot was rarely seen. He had sealed himself away in his citadel in the sky, flanked by his most trusted underlings. None [dared challenge] him there.'

You say, 'Dared challenge?'

Taromani smirks and continues, 'The reason no one challenged the overlord was because his realm was fatal to all but a select few. The forces of chaos magic present there would tear most beings to shreds. Only with the proper protection could a mortal hope to enter the citadel of Anguish and survive the experience. It was the ultimate defense against invasion. However, there was a [flaw] in the overlord's plans.'

You say, 'What flaw?'

Taromani licks her lips and whispers, 'The overlord failed to consider what would occur if a certain Half Elf named ______ were to do a few favors for a Pyrilen named Taromani in return for her protection. Now it's your turn to finish the story. How does it end? Does the Half Elf assist with the [favors]?'

You say, 'I will assist with the favors.'

You receive Taromani's Insignia Case, a 7-slot LARGE container.

Taromani says 'Very good. A life in Mata Muram's army is a dangerous one - often nasty, brutish, and short. He must regularly replenish his ranks, promoting the most talented individuals of the lower tiers to replace those that have fallen. Seek out and eliminate these promising soldiers, the up-and-coming members of his forces. Bring me their insignias in this case to prove completion. This will slow down their progress considerably. When you have done what I have asked, I will follow through with my part of the bargain and provide you with the protection you need to access his citadel.'

The signets are obtained from dragorns in different zones:

Tarnished Signet - Wall of Slaughter (dropped by A Dragorn Mastermind, Dragorn Tactician)
Glimmering Signet - Muramite Proving Grounds (dropped by A Dragorn Tactician)
Dust-Marred Signet - Catacombs of Dranik (dropped by An Insidious Dragorn)
Discolored Signet - Sewers of Dranik (dropped by A Cunning Dragorn)
Weather-Worn Signet - Ruined City of Dranik (dropped by A Dragorn Prodigy)
Two-Toned Signet - Dranik's Hollows (dropped by A Shrewd Dragorn)
Crystal-Gemmed Signet - Riftseekers' Sanctum (dropped by A Dragorn Battlemaster)

Combine the insignias in the case to craft a Full Insignia Case. Give this to Taromani.

Taromani says 'Yes, you haven't disappointed me. This is exactly what I was hoping to see, _____. Mata Muram's forces will be hampered considerably. Now for your reward. . .' She kisses her palm and reaches forward, pressing the hand against your cheek. The skin is warm, almost unbearably so. You feel queasy for a moment, and when the sensation passes she withdraws her arm. 'You'll soon discover that his impenetrable defenses aren't so impenetrable after all. Soon you will be seeing the world through the shroud of Anguish.'

You receive a character flag! You are now protected from the chaos magic in Mata Muram's citidel

Retrieve the Globe

Head to Anguish!! In a full clearing of Anguish your raid will recieve 3 globes: 1 from Jelvan, 1 from either Ture or Warden Hanvar and the final from Arch Magus.

You will receive Globe of Discordant Energy.

After obtaining the Globe, head back to Talwyn Flamecaller in Lavastorm Mountains. Giving him the Globe of Discordant Energy.

Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Your first task is to take the right half of the orb to the highest point achieved by a wizards spire on Norrath. On the western prong, you will find a small tear in space. Place the orb inside this tear; it will absorb the pure essence of teleportation. The second task will take you to the highest point achieved by a wizards spire on Luclin. Find another tear in space there and absorb that essence as well. Return to me with both halves imbued with the proper essence and hand them to me, along with your staff.'

He then breaks the Globe Of Discordant Energy into 2 different items. You receive Broken Orb of Discordant Energy and Broken Orb of Discordant Energy.

Absorb The Essences

The first spire is located in Dreadlands. Proceed to the massive spires just south of the port in spires. Get some form of Levitation, and proceed to scale the North West Spire. When you reach the top (a long way up), you will see 5 glowing containers each named "Always Work".

Place the Broken Orb of Discordant Energy and hit combine to yield Infused Orb of Discordant Energy.

The next step is to proceed to the highest spire in Luclin - in Mons Letalis. Once there, go through the tunnel up to the platform, and then levitate and scale the NW Spire again to the top where there is again a container named "Always Work". Place the Broken Orb of Discordant Energy and hit combine to yield Infused Orb of Discordant Energy

From there head back to Talwyn Flamecaller in Lavastorm Mountains. Hand him the two Infused Orb of Discordant Energy with your 1.5 Epic totally un-augmented.

Talwyn Flamecaller looks at the item for a moment before speaking, 'You have returned to me with an item I seek. I shall hold onto it until you return with the rest of the items.'
Talwyn Flamecaller looks at the item for a moment before speaking, 'You have returned to me with an item I seek. I shall hold onto it until you return with the rest of the items.'
Talwyn Flamecaller says 'With these Infused Orbs, your path to becoming a soldier of Solusek's legions has been completed. You have surpassed even my expectations!' he says. You hear Talwyn chant in low, almost inaudible tones. His hands glow bright with power as he assembles a weapon worthy of Solusek himself. 'Take this staff as a symbol of your loyalty to Solusek and weild it proudly, wizard!'

You receive Staff of Phenomenal Power as well as 10 AA points! Congratulations on finishing your Epic 2.0!!!

Appendix D: Notes

1. Although locations are listed for ground spawns, they have been reported as spawning in multiple locations in the vicinity.

2. Talwyn asks for a "rod." This is indeed the Fluxing Staff.

3. The Elite Sun Revenant is on a goofy timer. If he has already been up for a while, you can respawn him after you kill him. But if you spawn him then kill him, you will have to wait for the respawn timer.

4. Shar Vinitras is a new mob in Akheva Ruins; this is not a typo.

5. Kalym will not talk to you if you have not handed in all previous items to Talwyn.

6. Treasure Sorter Neiben can be spawned from any Shady Treasure Sorter but seems more common at and around the above location.
